Crossed Designs - Designs in which any level of a factor may be used in combination with a level of any other factor to form a run. Fractional factorials and Plackett Burman designs are crossed designs in which not all possible crossings are used. Designs that do not specify all possible crossings may preclude an independent estimation of the effect of an unspecified interaction because that interaction may be confounded with an included interaction.
